Teacher Grants $500

The Portage County Master Gardener Volunteers provide a grant up to $500 to active Portage County teachers to support innovative projects in horticulture or related fields using sustainable gardening practices, nutrition, climate change, or environmental preservation in the classroom or in building activities. Portage County educators are encouraged to submit applications for projects. Grant money may not replace funds from already allocated school budgets or from other sources. The deadline for submitting applications for the MGV grant by mail or email is November 1st

Student Scholarship $1000

The OSU Portage Extension Master Gardener Volunteers offer timely research-based gardening information to others. Toward this mission The Ohio State University Extension Portage County Master Gardener Volunteers oer a $1000 scholarship annually to one applicant pursing a degree or certificate in plant science, such as, but not limited to the areas of agronomy, botany, horticulture, forestry, landscaping, environment, conservation or agriculture. The applicant must be a Portage County resident, a graduate of a Portage County high school, or a Portage County high school graduating senior. Applicants are eligible to apply in future years.

The deadline for receiving applications for the MGV scholarship is March 15th.
